An Ambassador of
Cavtat: Tino Pattiera (1890
- 1966) |
|

Tino
Pattiera |
Right
about that time he partnered Meta
Seinmeyer and was greatly responsible
for a resurgence of interest in Verdi's
operas in Germany.
It is unknown why this world class tenor
never performed in HNK (Croatian
National Theater) in Zagreb.
Tino passed in 1966 and is buried in his
hometown - Cavtat.

Croatian tenor Tino Pattiera was born in
Cavtat in 1890.
Prior to taking a repertory for which he
became famous (although today he is,
undeservedly, we might add, somewhat
forgotten), he was notable in operetta.
Tino was a handsome man with an
exceptional, dark heroic tenor voice,
that was, some say, perfectly suited for
roles like Manrico in Il Trovatore.
On
occasion compared with Caruso, Tino
acquired quite an audience in 1920s. |
